LAND AID

LandAid is the property industry charity. Their mission is to help disadvantaged young people in the UK access the facilities, support and opportunities they need to reach their potential. They do this by making the most effective and innovative use of the property industry's resources, expertise and influence to invest in projects where the property industry can make the greatest difference.

HOPE AND HOMES

Imagine growing up not knowing what a family is, not having the sense of belonging, or the emotional support that being part of one provides. Families are a source of comfort, warmth and nurturing, protection and security. If children are denied this love and respect their chances in life are dramatically reduced.

At Hope and Homes for Children we believe that, above all else, every child should grow up within a caring family.

Hope and Homes work together with children, their families and communities across Central and Eastern Europe and Africa to ensure that children grow up in an environment where they have the opportunity to fulfil their potential.

They move children out of institutions into family-based care, help keep together families at risk of breakdown – due to the pressures of poverty, disease or conflict – and work to prevent child abandonment.

SOS CHILDREN'S VILLAGES - THE WORLD'S LARGEST ORPHAN CHARITY

We help children who may be AIDS orphans, street children, child soldiers or children orphaned by war, poverty or natural disasters. We give these children a mother and a family in a home within an SOS Children's Village. We take groups of seven to ten children and put them together with a permanent resident SOS mother to make a family for life. We group a dozen or so SOS families together in a Village and work out from this centre to help the wider community with the facilities needed. Our goal for the next eight years is to help a million child sponsors give a million children a family for life. Of these, one hundred thousand children will be given a new family and home in an SOS Children's Village.

Plan UK

Plan is a child-centred community development organisation with no religious and political affiliations, enabling families and communities in the poorest countries to make lasting improvements to the lives of their children.

In the countries where we work, one out of five children die before the age of five, and the ones who survive often go hungry and have no chance of learning to read and write.

Plan works with children, their parents, and their community, to plan practical ways to provide many of the things we take for granted in the UK, so that together we build schools, drill wells, get nurses trained and help families to better support themselves.
